Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Tui-Na are complementary therapies that are part of integrative medicine, aiming to balance the body as a whole.
Chinese Medicine
It is a natural and holistic therapy that seeks to view the patient as a whole, in order to understand the energetic imbalance that triggers their pathology; and the best way to treat this imbalance. The patient is seen as a unique being and the treatment plan is individualized to meet the needs of each patient.
Chinese Medicine encompasses various treatment tools, such as: Acupuncture, Laser Acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, Tui Na, Herbal Medicine, Cupping Therapy, Moxibustion, among others.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a technique of Chinese Medicine that uses the insertion of extremely fine needles into specific points of the body (acupuncture points). The goal is to balance the patient’s energy, as by stimulating these acupuncture points in this way, the body will produce a natural response; the body itself releases hormonal, chemical, and anti-inflammatory substances. This allows the specialist to act in relieving various symptoms and diseases.
More and more patients are seeking this natural therapy to help with pain relief, respiratory, emotional, gastrointestinal, reproductive system problems, and weight loss.
Tui Na
It is a therapeutic massage performed on the whole body. With deep movements, muscle stretches, and manipulations, it aims to promote muscle relaxation, pain relief, and overall well-being. During Tui Na, acupuncture points are stimulated through digit-pressure that best fits the patient’s clinical case. This way, it is possible to promote muscle relaxation, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, reduce anxiety/stress, improve sleep quality, and promote anti-inflammatory action (excellent in pain treatment).
Laser Acupuncture
It consists of the bio-stimulation of acupuncture points using a laser without the use of acupuncture needles. This technique is painless and is excellent for treating babies, children, and those who fear needles. This type of laser allows the use of anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and/or regenerative frequencies to offer better treatment to each patient. It is indicated for musculoskeletal disorders, joint pathologies, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, respiratory pathologies, allergies, and skin conditions. In the case of babies and children, it is also an excellent resource for strengthening the immune system, hyperactivity, lack of concentration, emotional management, among others.
Weight Loss Acupuncture
The weight loss treatment is based on three main pillars: acupuncture, a varied dietary plan, and herbal medicine. How does acupuncture act on weight loss? It accelerates metabolism, reduces anxiety/stress, helps control emotional hunger, regulates the intestines and digestion, reduces water retention, volume, and cellulite.
Acupuncture in Fertility
Currently, more and more couples are seeking this treatment in addition to assisted reproduction treatments and even before starting assisted reproduction treatments. With Chinese medicine, couples are accompanied to control various factors that may be compromising a possible pregnancy; such as: anxiety/stress, irregular menstrual cycles, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, adenomyosis, asthenozoospermia, teratozoospermia, low sperm production and quality, low ovarian reserve, among others.
There is also a specific protocol; called the Paulus Protocol; which is clinically proven to improve the success rate of in vitro fertilization and IVF. This protocol should be performed 2 days or on the day before assisted reproduction treatment and again up to two days later.
Acupuncture in the management of cancer patients
This treatment aims to improve the quality of life, enhance the immune system, and reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy so that the patient can complete the treatments more successfully. It addresses the following symptoms: loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, pain, emotional instability, extreme fatigue, apathy, difficulty breathing, coughing/sputum, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, migraines, among others.
